Cooling large surfaces: what are the solutions?

There are several solutions for bringing fresh air into a large business premises. The first, of course, is to install a complete air-conditioning system. In some premises, it is also possible to divide the space into several smaller units – for example, using partitions – to facilitate the installation of mobile air-conditioning units.

However, these solutions are imperfect. Firstly, they can be very costly: installing an air-conditioning system requires major work. What’s more, this can interrupt part of your production or force you to temporarily rearrange your premises. Secondly, these solutions are not necessarily adapted to your company’s reality. It may be that the heat influx and temperature rise are temporary, and that air conditioning is not appropriate.

Adiabatic cooling: how does it work?

This easy-to-move unit operates on an ecological principle that’s perfectly healthy for the environment. Imagine a basin filled with water, and now imagine that the ambient (hot) air is brought into contact with this water. Inevitably, the air temperature will trigger evaporation… which will help cool the air and load it with moisture.

That’s how a cooler works. All it needs is access to a water supply and a power line. Note that it has a substantial water reserve (several dozen liters, depending on the device) to enable it to operate autonomously.

A mobile air cooler can be an ideal solution: its mobility means you can move it into the hottest areas of your premises, whether or not they’re open to the public. On the other hand, you may well use it only in summer, or when production intensity increases and certain equipment causes heat peaks. This is greatly appreciated by your customers, but also – and often first and foremost – by your employees. If they’re not overwhelmed by the heat, they’re much more productive. Keeping them working in a healthy, airy environment preserves their health.

Too much heat on the premises: what are the risks?

The use of an industrial adiabatic cooler allows you to deal with two risks in particular:

  • fires: hot, dry air is ideal for starting fires. Some products (especially those used in the printing industry) catch fire easily in this context.
  • electrocution: just as it can start a fire, hot, dry air “charges” metallic materials with electricity.

In both cases, cooling and humidifying the ambient air avoids these risks.

Mobile air cooler: which model do I need?

It all depends, of course, on the size of your premises and the temperature. Foxair offers four machines with performance tailored to the needs of professionals. Fan diameter varies, as does motorization. The air flow is more or less powerful, and the water reservoir more or less large.
